Thanks to the wonderful support of our partner The Altenburg Foundation, we are able to offer our children a summer programme. These classes run for three months and offer ‘catch up’ sessions and extension sessions for children as appropriate. We are also able to offer intensive classes for children who have been out of school (or who have never had the chance to attend school), to maximise their chances of being able to rejoin mainstream learning and recover the learning they have been denied. We also offer within our summer work a programme of literacy, numeracy and parenting support sensitively targeted within our community; this allows families to more effectively partner with us to support the learning of our children.
Our summer programme offers the chance for teachers to innovate in their classes, with an enhanced emphasis on learning through playful approaches. The children also have sessions in sports and arts, as well as trips throughout the summer period.
